GET TO KNOW ME

For me, pursuing a counseling degree after retiring from the University of Louisiana as the Associate Dean of Students was a natural progression. I had grown to love working with our students, helping them, encouraging them. A degree in counseling gave me the skills to develop what I already had a passion for.

After 20 years of work as a therapist at Bienvenu Counseling, I couldn’t be more enthusiastic or optimistic about the calling that is on my life.

I am doubly licensed by the state of Louisiana as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Board Certified Christian Counselor. In the years since getting my Master’s degree, I have continued to pursue professional development in numerous areas. Below are my some of my specializations:

  • EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) trained to help couples both identify and take steps to create a secure relational bond.
  • Formational Prayer Certification from Ashland Theological Seminary to help position clients for healing and transformation.
  • EMDR certification (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to aid clients in recovering from trauma, anxiety, panic, distressing memories
  • Spiritual Direction certification through a 2 year course that allows provision of spiritual mentorship in addition to clinical counseling.
  • Experience with over 25 groups of 16-week prayer curriculums to facilitate emotional healing.

My husband, Taylor, and I are active in our church and have led many marriage groups and small group studies. I also enjoy staying involved in our community through opportunities such as sitting on the board of Chi Alpha Ministries at the University of Louisiana.

I want my clients to know there is always more to life than how we are living at the present moment. Jesus states in John 10:10 “I have come that I may give you life and that you may have life more abundantly.” I believe that an abundant life includes emotional health. My prayer is that for those whom I have the privilege of working with that they grow spiritually and emotionally. That they embrace freedom and walk in a greater peace that they have previously known.
